Shelter Box fund raising over £2000

Saturday April 2nd 2022

Coffee Morning and Bring and Buy

in aid of

Shelter box and St Cross Church Funds.

By 9.30am on a cold but bright morning the 2nd Knutsford (Crosstown) Scouts were busy erecting tents on the grass outside the church and bunting was fluttering in the wind.  All was set for a good morning fund raising.

We were grateful to Rick Dallimore, President of the Knutsford Rotary Club for his enlightening talk in March on the work of Shelter Box showing us the tent and many more vital items needed for the basic survival of migrant and refugee families. These have been on display in church for some weeks and the DVD, showing the breadth of Shelter Box Aid, was played at intervals in the Parish room.

Soon trade was busy in the church. The Bring and Buy tables were laden with Good as New books, attractive toiletries, beautifully knitted blankets and baby clothes. These and a varied assortment of general good quality saleable items were generously donated by the congregation.

Malyn entertained here with her usual delightful medley of tunes on the piano and young David Wall, one of the scouts, played in the Parish room for the pleasure of all who were enjoying coffee and cake chosen from a table of delicious cakes and biscuits..

The tables were attractively decorated with posies of flowers in the Ukrainian colours reminding us of the situation in this part of the world. Shelter box is providing significant practical aid to the victims of this conflict.

It has been a very enjoyable social event and many thanks to all who have given their generous support, resulting in a magnificent total of  £2,018 ( and rising )

£510 of which was donated specifically for Shelter box.

The remainder will be shared equally with Shelter Box and St Cross Funds.
