Ash Wednesday Services

At St. Cross we have broadcast Audio Services for almost a year since COVID19 struck the world, and also used YouTube mainly for our younger people. Like so many churches, ministers have sought to keep their flock together through various ways, from written prayers, children's activity packs, prayer over the telephone, CD's and also using platforms like Facebook Live, YouTube and Zoom.  We have enjoyed Zoom Services for Advent and Candlemas with our friends at Knutsford Methodist Church.

Tonight, February 17th at the start of Lent we had our Ash Wednesday Evening Service of Holy Communion and Imposition of Ashes via Zoom. The Vicarage living room was transformed into a chapel. It was a joy to see many of our parishioners and to worship with them tonight, not least to be able to see people's faces!  A special thanks too, for Simon's message over how we consider wearing the ash cross on our foreheads. Not an act of piety but a visible sign of our commitment to Christ.

The service concluded with a Lenten Meditation before the candles were extinguished and all departed peacefully to reflect on what Ash Wednesday means.

Remember you are dust, and to dust you shall return. Turn away from sin and be faithful to Christ.
