Open Gardens 2019

Every year we have an Open Gardens social event and parishioners kindly open their gardens and homes to the church and the wider community. This year we were blessed with glorious weather.

Maggie and Geoff's garden, a beautifully compact and glorious sun trap. This arch of roses catches the eye.

Linda's pride and joy. One enters through the gate to be met by a blaze of colour and carefully arranged flowers and shrubs in raised beds. The lawn is like a lush green carpet.

Anita and David's, a very quaint cottage garden with pathways and different areas to explore or rest in, whether that be in sun or shade. The vegetables growing in the centre brings its own beauty and sense of practicality.

And then we all met at Eric and Mary's, in a large, well established garden with a variety of shrubs and trees. These heuchera on the rockery caught my attention.

A variety of home-made cakes and drinks were served, and the raffle drawn.

Many thanks to all those who planned and hosted the event this year, provided raffle prizes, supplied cakes, or simply came to enjoy this great social occasion. The proceeds of this event, along with our other Challenge 50 events, does contribute towards the fund-raising that we need to do, to maintain our beautiful building and to make further improvements for the benefit of everyone.
