Mission-Shaped Living - Chester Diocesan Lay Conference
This year the Lay Conference will take place over the weekend of 16th - 18th May. Parish delegates will be joined by our Bishops and top rate speakers.
The forthcoming Diocesan Lay Conference will be held over the weekend of 16th -18th May at the Hayes Conference Centre in Swanwick. This year it is good to report that we are sending the full entitlement of three representatives. The overall theme will be addressed by Steve Croft, Archbishop's Missioner and Team Leader of Fresh Expressions and Judy Hirst, Local Ministry Development Officer in Newcastle and Durham Dioceses. They will be sharing from their wide experience in the area of mission in the contemporary church. In addition, each of the representatives has chosen different workshops from the list of 35 possibilities. We are waiting to hear which of our choices have been allocated to our individual timetables. Our requested options included the following: Easy Evangelism - how everyone can be an evangelist, Steering between three posts - finding a way through post-modern, post-christendom and post-secular, Families - reaching out and nurturing faith, Lay Pioneer Ministry and developing fresh expressions, A Changing Church? - how the local church can respond to modern trends and pressures, This is not a faceless generation - poverty, faith and mission and, Prayer and Silence. (there are more - however as we each had to choose 6 possibilities there are too many to list here!) It will be a very thought provoking weekend and the representatives are hoping to have a lot of ideas and inspiration to bring back to share with our P.C.C. A report on the proceedings will be posted here.
